really, really easy comb cover tutorial

Do you scrabble around in the bottom
of your bag for your comb
and when you eventually find it it has all sorts
gunk over it?

Or is that just me?

Anyway I've been meaning to make a cover
for ages so I thought you might like to make one too.

First cut out one strip of fabric 20" long x 3" wide.
The size depends on the comb you will be using
just be sure not to make it too snug because
it would be a pain to be able to finally find your comb
and then not be able to get it out of the cover.

Trim corners.
Once you have turned it right side out and pressed it
fold it in half and press it again.
Now just stitch down the two long sides.
That's it!

Just pop your comb in and it will be so much easier (and cleaner)
to find in the bottom of your handbag.

These don't take a lot of fabric so they would be great for
Mother's Day stalls wrapped in celophane with a pretty comb.

or just for you!

when life gives you scraps

If you sew you have scraps.

Some keep them all organised in colour
or size and sometimes range.

Some sort them and iron them.

Some make beautiful strippy quilts from them.

Me?

I just tied thousands onto a coat hanger
and bent it into the shape of a heart.

I'm crazy like that.

Free fabric wreaths .

I can't bear to waste anything and fabric is no exception .

My very nifty solution is to keep a ring near my work area for tying on all those scraps that really aren't much good for anything else .

You can have a few rings and have wreaths going for brights , shabby or Christmas .

These wreaths are great when you've been doing applique as it doesn't really matter if the shape is a bit off . I usually just cut the scraps sort of straight about 3" long and about 1/2" wide , tie them on as you go and then when you're happy with the fullness of the wreath give them a bit of a trim with pinking shears . They can then be hung with ribbon or a longer fabric scrap .

By the time Christmas comes you can have quite a few made as gifts .For Mothers Day stalls ask for donations of scraps as my school has found these to be a fun classroom activity .

Obviously all that money you save on giftgiving will be spent on more fabric !

Here Puss Puss

I know you all think I've just been swanning around accepting awards , hosting giveaways and being a cover girl but I have been working , really I have !

It has been so hot lately that I've done a bit on a new stitchery and stocking up on my scrappy cats for the local craft store . I think I must have a thing for cats lately as another project I am planning has cats too .

Keep cool as a cat in this heat ......
