so easily distracted

I was meant to be stripping the beds on my day off
but when I discovered one of the sheets
was looking a bit tatty
I stripped it instead.

I have visions of a lovely oval rug
and I have started a few times ~ got it wrong
and had to start again.

I think I'm getting there now.

Well I hope so.

The sheet was just ripped to make the lengths
and the many stray strands of cotton
were spread around the yard.

I then watched the birds collecting the cotton for
their nests for ages.

Told you I was easily distracted.

PS The first Creative Challenge for the year
is up on Sunday and although we only had two
challengers sign up I know these creations
will be just amazing!

close enough

I got home from work one day and this was on the bed.
The husband must have been feeling the cold.

Stinky Ralph who is actually a girl but really does stink
seems very happy with the new blanket.

So it looks like it is finally finished.

Lucky I have lots of wool leftover to start a new one.

The winner of the book Blogging for Bliss is
Michelle Sheehan!

Quilt Kitty won herself a gift certificate to my store.

Thanks so much for entering.
Would you please email me with  your details
so I can send your prizes off.

while we're waiting let's have a giveaway

While we are waiting for me to finally finish the biggest
granny ripple in the world I thought I'd have a giveaway.

I have been trying to get a copy of Mollie Makes Blogging
but it has sold out everywhere but luckily
I have a copy of Blogging for Bliss by Tara Frey
for one lucky Australian blogger.
It really is a great read and very inspirational.

If you are an Australian blogger or are looking at
starting your own blog just leave a comment on this post.
No I won't make you blog, facebook or tweet about it
but it would be so nice if you do!

Because it's always a bit sad to only have one winner
we'll have two with the second one winning a gift certificate
from my shop.
I can even send the gift certificate directly to your friend
if you would like.

I'll be back in a few days with the winners
and hopefully a finished blanket......

This giveaway is now closed but
thanks for your interest.

round and round we go

I found a big bag of these at my local Vinnies.

They were too good to leave behind.

So I used some scrap wool to crochet around them.

Now I have a bit of a head start on Christmas decorations.

When do you start making your decorations?

What have you re-made from supposed junk?

What have you been up to?

let me try again

I'm going to have another go at finishing something
Last year I didn't get finished in time.
The whole sorry saga is here.

Everything needs to be written in my diary , everything.

I am so scattered I never know what my kids
are up to unless I check the diary.
Unfortunately the diary can be lost for days under paint charts
or crochet or just mingled with all the junk at my place.

I also get a bit distracted and madly
start things like this old cupboard.

but I think it turned out ok .

Now I'm off to work on my scarf and think
about the competition.

I wonder really where my kids are............

a couple of days later

Well yes it is a bit more than a couple of days later
since I said I would come back and let you
you know who was the winner of the
Amigurumi World Seriously Cute Crochet Book but....

I've had the most dreadful flu.

I haven't sewn or crocheted.

I haven't glued or painted.

But I put some little bells in plastic eggs and strung
them up from a pretty food cover

and then I went back to bed.

The winner of the book is ....
Melody!
Please email me Melody with your address.
Thanks everyone else for entering I do appreciate it.

Now I'm going back to bed.

hot snowflakes

I've been crocheting little white circles all year.

I eventually threaded them together
and added buttons and pearls.

They are strung up on my verandah door and
with the sun shining through they look really stunning.

As I said the sun shines through so I couldn't get a
decent photo to show you.

So I put them on another wall and took another photo

and then another spot and took a photo

and yet another spot.

Every time I moved them they would get
all tangled so I just gave up .

It was also a million degrees the day
I tried to decorate with my snowflakes .

You'll just have to believe me when I say they look beautiful.

Wishing you and yours a merry and safe Christmas.

moving on

I'm always a little sad at the end of Winter to pack
my crochet blankets away.

All during the cold weather
they have been snuggled in and cuddled in.
They have been cried on and laughed in.
They have been fought in and fought over.

For now they are clean and being packed away.

Next Winter will be very different in my home
with my kids growing up and moving on.

So I guess I will be making blankets for their homes...

and cuddling the pets that are left behind.

just keep dancing

when everything seems so chaotic

and nothing is the same
except for two squares that I didn't want to be the same

when the pile of stuff just gets higher

and we feel like throwing it to the wind

when we feel so very scattered

just keep dancing

keep on dancing.

I meant joining just keep joining .

so far

The weather has been a little cooler
and at night I like to crochet.

So far I have covered two coat hangers

made a snuggly warm cowl

started a bright , fun scarf

gotten quite a bit of ripple done

and begun to join some squares .

Not bad for a hooker .
