so easily distracted

I was meant to be stripping the beds on my day off
but when I discovered one of the sheets
was looking a bit tatty
I stripped it instead.

I have visions of a lovely oval rug
and I have started a few times ~ got it wrong
and had to start again.

I think I'm getting there now.

Well I hope so.

The sheet was just ripped to make the lengths
and the many stray strands of cotton
were spread around the yard.

I then watched the birds collecting the cotton for
their nests for ages.

Told you I was easily distracted.

PS The first Creative Challenge for the year
is up on Sunday and although we only had two
challengers sign up I know these creations
will be just amazing!

moving on

There may be a house move for me soon
and I'm trying to get organised.

My next place will be much, much smaller
so I have been culling as much as I can.

My old suitcase stores all my family tree notes
so it's practical and it can stay with me
but I felt it needed a little zing!

My new rule is not to bring any more stuff in to
the house and use what I already have so
I found an old tin of paint in the shed
called Fiesta which I seem
to remember buying as a vibrant orange.

A few quick coats of so called Fiesta later
but I thought the Fiesta was a fizzer.

I had some background paint from my
decorative painting days and set to with a couple
of coats of Tigerlily (Jo Sonja)

Aaah now that's better!

Maybe having such a bright case will remind me
to work on my family tree more often.

Do you do Family Tree stuff?
Got any tips for me?

not your average nana

I picked up this great but ratty stool at a garage sale.

When I posted a photo of it on instagram
the main response was "my nan had one of those"!

I never met my nan but

I like to imagine she was a fun and funky nan

so I hope she'd like what I've done to the stool.

when life gives you scraps

If you sew you have scraps.

Some keep them all organised in colour
or size and sometimes range.

Some sort them and iron them.

Some make beautiful strippy quilts from them.

Me?

I just tied thousands onto a coat hanger
and bent it into the shape of a heart.

I'm crazy like that.

now it's even cooler

In a bid to be a little more organised this year
I thought I'd make myself a business card/note holder.

I began with a daggy cooling tray

gave it a quick spray with paint that was
 left over from another project

added a few bits of broken bling and

ta da! new card holder!

bling bling

I do love a bit of sparkle , I really do.
None of it is expensive so I can get a pretty
necklace every now and then.

The problem is they get all tangled up and
I'm just not a patient person to spend ages untangling them.

So I covered a wooden coat hanger in washi tape
and then I screwed some little hooks in.

Now I can hang some from the mirror without them
getting all twisted together.

Do you love some bling too?

it's the little things

Slowly , slowly on the mend.

I'm still not able to do too much

but I did manage to gather all the old bits of necklaces
and ear rings that the teen girl and I had no use for

and connected them to an old fan cover.

They sparkle and shine as they hang
and looking at all the different things makes me so happy.

It's the little things.

here chook chook chook

I found this old chook at a garage sale years ago.

She has been perched high on a cupboard looking down at me ever since.
Although I loved her and her shape I just couldn't
bring myself to use something that was so , so brown.

It was about time I did something about this lovely old girl.

I gave her a good wash and a very light sand.
Two coats of sealer were then applied.

A couple of sprays with some pink glossy paint and ta da!

She looks so happy now being a real part of the family.

tick tock

I have a small obsession with clocks.

I have a whole pinterest board dedicated to clocks.

I have at least 3 clocks in every room of the house .

My husband tolerates my obsession and even turned
up with this daggy creation the other day assuring me
that I could fix it up.

I wasted no time turning it into a pretty nice ticker.

The paint I used was White Knight ~ Squirts ~ Quick Dry
Gloss Enamel ~ Mint.

let there be light ........or maybe not

One of my favourite Vinnie's had this light fitting in their shop.
It sat there winking at me every time I went in there .
Unfortunately I don't have a light that this will fit on.

It continued to taunt me for weeks until I brought it home.

I turned it upside and poured a few buttons in.

I kept pouring....

I poured some more....

lucky I have so many buttons .

no flies on me

Hi there finally I'm back .

I did say I would be back earlier but you know
life , work , family blah blah blah .

Thanks for all the doll link ups , what fun !

I asked one of the kids to pick a number this morning
and number 2 was chosen so I will be sending Tammy
from Girls Wear Blue Too some dolly fabric .
Tammy would you please email me with your address .

Creative time has been very limited lately but
I did manage to make a fly swatter mobile , as you do.

no sneezing please

My crochet laundry curtains had to go .

We now have a toilet in our laundry and when visitors
used this toilet they got a little freaked out that
there was no proper curtain in there .

Outside the laundry there is only a paddock so
maybe they thought the roos might watch them .

So I stitched together a whole lot of old hankies
for my new curtain .

I love this curtain too but if anyone blows their nose on this
they are in big trouble !
