Tuesdays Treasures

In honour of Father's Day on Sunday my
treasure this week is one of my dads shirts .
My dad was a hardworking man but when we
saw him in this shirt we knew he was all ours for a bit .
All of my family remember the lovely hikes to the local
beach with dad who was often wearing this shirt .
We would spend hours looking in rockpools and just
hanging out together .
When my dad died I was obviously very upset
and slept with this shirt for many years .
It now lives in my linen cupboard and
is the only nice part of having having to change
sheets as every time I go to the cupboard
I see this shirt and smile .

All welcome to join in and show your treasures !

Gosh that made me cry - I wish I had some of my dad's shirts. I would wear them when I was a teen, but my mom got rid of them all when he died. So glad you have this treasure!

Sadly, I have nothing of my mom's or dad's, so I was truly touched by your post today.

How gorgeous. If you were a quilter you would have sewn it into a little quilt by now.
It's lovely that you remember the shirt meant a day off to spend with you children.

That's a great memory, Clare - it's funny how the little things bring back our parents to us. My dad used to play boogie-woogie on the piano that now sits in our living room, and occasionally my hubby will pound some out, too - just because it reminds me of my dad!

Fathers and their daughters, hey? I agree with the others. This one is a teary one. Also a lovely one! I'm glad you got to keep it for yourself.

I know what you mean! Even though my Dad is still here with me, I think I will always remember him in either his holey shorts and holey shirt doing the mowing, or in his holden tshirt and jeans, or wearing his old white woolen jumper! I bet you miss him, but am glad you have wonderful memories to remember him by!
Hugs to you Clare!!
