At my house

At my house I am taking control .
I am saying no to coming to work just because
someone else feels like a day off .
I need time off too .
I am saying no to inappropiate text messages
to my 12 year old nearly 13 year old daughter
who thinks she is 18 years old .
I have taken matters to the police .
I am saying no to xbox on school nights to the boy .
Study or help at home .
I am saying no to everyone this week .
Ask me something , the answer is no !

I am a good mother , wife , employee , friend ,
community member .
I think I'll even be better when I can sometimes say no
and say yes to things that can be good for me .

See others who aren't spitting their dummies at Lou Lous .

Yes to saying no! I am still learning when to say yes and when I must say no, but so far more nos in my life have led to more peace.

I love your crocheted blocks! So pretty!

Good for you! We really do need to be able to say no sometimes, especially when we know it is right for us!

No is needed especially when it comes to electronic games. I am getting my son to help around the house a bit more to use up some of his spare time. Charmaine

For me...NO is one of the hardest words I can say...it is hard, always has been hard and if I would just learn to ssay NO, my life would be much easier....

NO is such a powerful word and it takes some of us a long time to use it but when you do you take control of your life! Well Done!!

You Rock! Too many of us say yes far to often, and most of the time it is always to please others or to make things easier at the time. We need to say no more often than we do, it is better for our health, family and commitments in the long run.

I say no but it doesn't do much good, DH still brings the 2 grandkids here, unnannounced, when I've said I need some time to catch up on my sewing :(! Then I have to run around like a mad woman packing everything away as gs, at 3, is apt to put his grubby little fingers on something to ask me what it is! I love him but he's given waayyy to much freedom at his house and I can't be cranky with him because his parents have different ideas to me.

Good for you. You need to say NO to those things.

Glad No has made it back into your vocabulary - seems we always tell little kids No but not the big kids!

Hope you get to use your extra time just the way you'd like.

I agree, I have trouble saying no a lot of the time BUT you get to a point where you have just plain had enough. So yes, NO NO NO!
(Sorry to hear you had to take inappropriate texts to the police. I did this for a young woman I know regarding inappropriate, in fact really hateful emails, she was receiving, and the police were fantastic. They spoke to the other 19 year old involved and she stopped sending them.. Hopefully they will be able to help you too.)

Sometimes it is liberating to say 'no'. I said 'no' to a friend who wanted me to fill in for tennis. I said 'no' to master 8 who wanted to take his basket ball to school for show and tell, as if they don't have enough balls at school. This list goes on. Be strong i say.

I am in a little bit of a 'no' phase at the moment too. I have to or I will go completely crazy. Too many things to do and not enough time! Seems like some fair enough 'no's' going on at your house at the moment. Good on you! Lou.

It is very hard to stand back and say 'no' but very liberating when you do ... and people respect you more for it, family and friends will appreciate you more beceause you are now putting a value on your time, patience and commitment - good for you - it has taken me until my fifties to learn to say no without feeling bad about it and it goes hand in hand with the art of delegation!

Phew! Sounds like there's quite a lot of full on stuff going on at your place at the moment. I hope your 'no's' help you to get through this time. Good luck and I am so pleased to see your gorgeous squares that will cheer you up if anything can.

Good for you. Can you email me and give me a pep talk on the virtues of saying NO. And then stand behind me when I say it. I so need this lesson at the moment.

You spit that dummy loud and proud, lovely! (and, um, hang in there).

Applause to Clare! You go girl. Sometimes a mother has to take control! Later the kids (and others) will be grateful for making them into respectful adults.(though you first have years of battling to come ^:^ )

I'm 100% behind you holding up that 'no' flag too. I've learnt to live with the daggers in my back and the silent treatment, but I really believe it's made a difference to family knowing boundaries and others around knowing what I will and won't put up with, and what's a fair thing to ask. Good luck with your no saying.

You are indeed a good person. You take care of your family and office at the same time. People find it tedious to tackle this dual. It is sometime necessary to be strict.
