caught !

I met a lovely old dear the other day .

She told me she had seen my Catchit bag in a
magazine and how much she loved it .
If fact she loved it so much she wanted 3,
one for each of her great-granddaughters.

I tried to politely explain I only do the
patterns I don't take orders for the bags themselves.

Never mind about what patterns she said
 I'd like one in greens,

and one in pinks ,

and do you have one in bluey greens
for the oldest one?
But , but I only sell the patterns !

I delivered her new Catchits on the weekend
and the old dear told me I was such a good girl
she would tell her friends !

If you would like to make your own Catchit bag
the pattern to make your own
is in my shop .

my creative space

I was bored for a split second last week so
of course I went shopping online .
I bought two charm packs of Hullabaloo.

As you might know I am not a quilter
but would like to be so I thought I could
just stitch all these squares together
and then go ta da I made a quilt !

Then I convinced myself if I was capable of
buying quilt fabric I could do something
a little more adventurous .(silly girl)

So my creative space has been full of circles
on squares . I love the handstitching part
but really don't like getting the circles ready .

Hope to show you it all finished by 2020!

Smarter creative spaces here .

the great cushion swap

I joined Vics cushion swap , yes I know I said
no swaps this year but.....
Anyway I had no idea who my partner was
until my cushion turned up here this morning .
Well Jennie from Craving Frocks really
out did herself with my lovely cover !
After going through my blog Jennie decided
to use my own images on my cover
how clever is that !

I really love my new cover and appreciate
the effort and creativity that went into it,
Thanks very much Jennie .

I have sent my cover to the hostess with the mostess
but she hasn't received it yet so I won't show
it to you , I like to keep her in suspenders !

PS I do apologise that I have been unable
to email and thank Jennie personally so to speak.

settle down

Well blogger sure had some issues this week .
Time away from the blog led me to a garage sale
where I found these beautiful cups , sigh ...lovely !
I think I'll use them for a bit and then make them
into pincushions , what do you think ?

I'm making pumpkin soup today with the
 ugliest pumpkin ever!
Here's hoping you have a great weekend !

the mystery of the missing head

Yes I think my head is missing !

I have been a little distracted lately and having
just a bit of trouble staying on track .

This poor softie that I have been working on
has been sitting on my workbench for oh um
about a month, headless !

I've worked out the body but just can't get
my act together and get the head right .

I did say a few weeks ago I was going to have
a new pattern release and a giveaway so
I'll kill two birds with one stone ,this is just
a saying please don't call the R.S.P.C.A.

See if you can guess what my new softie is and
I will draw two winners to receive
one of the books below .

The fabric used in the mockup won't help you
I only used brown because I know I don't have to keep it !

fabric tulips tutorial

So you'd like to make some tulips ?

First you will need some scrap cardboard .
Copy the diagram below , my finished template
was about 6" long by about 2 1/2 " high
with a little edge about 1/4" on each end .

Trace around your template onto doubled fabric .
Do not cut out yet .
Begin your stitching on the little edge leaving
the longer side pieces open .
Stitch all around the petal shapes .
Trim and clip curves before turning out .

Give your petals a good iron .
Open the fabric and match the unstitched edges and stitch .
Turn the tulip right side out .
Fold under the raw edges at the base of the tulip
and use a double thread to tack all around
and then pull the gathering stitches to form the base .

Push a stick into the centre (you can use a chopstick)
If you find your flower a bit wobbly on the stick
you can add some glue on the inside .

Tie a piece of green ric rac or ribbon on the stick
because this makes the tulips look even more real !

A few variations could be putting two flowers
on one stick for double tulips or having
different fabrics on the inside .

All done !
Let me know what you think and if
you make some I'd love to see them .

Thanks a bunch for visiting !

vintage sheets

I always feel a bit sad when I cut into
one of my vintage sheets .

But then again if I'm making something for
someone else I feel a bit more confident
that if I stuff it up there is plenty more
beautiful fabric to work with .

There is also the added bonus that if I make
something for someone else and I just adore
it and can't bear to part with it
there is plenty more to make one exactly
the same for me !
