Introducing Mabel !
Thankyou all for your fabulous suggestions , tips and advice on dating the old dear , you have been very kind and I really appreciate it .
There were so many names I liked and a lot of them were my family names of Aunties and even my grandmother Daisy someone even suggested Nellie which is my daughters name .
I chose Mabel obviously because I felt it sat right but also because I live in Gundagai and Dad , Dave , Mum and Mabel from Steele Rudds story has an association here .
Two people chose Mabel and as I promised I will send you each a copy of Sewing Machine Apron pattern .
Cherrie from Willywagtail and Sarah from Red Gingham if you would please email me with your addresses I will get your patterns in the post .
The Sewing Machine Apron pattern is now in my shop and in my ebay store .
Maybe you are wondering what the big deal is just choosing a name but it does seem to be a bit of a problem in this house . We have a huge boofy male cat here with the very unsuitable name of Flower !
While I was out the other day my son found a very timid , scrawny , female kitten , what else would he name it but Ralph ! See why I needed help !
Thanks again .
I'll be back soon with another giveaway !
Mabel suits beautifully!...and Nellie, what a pretty name, I've always loved that...
ReplyDeleteWhat???? You are giving away a kitten called Ralph??? The postage on that might be a killer though! lol....I know you aren't giving away a kitten it just sounded cute...
ReplyDeleteMabel is a perfect name....Made by Mabel...see it has a nice ring to it.

Oh how exciting!! I never win anything and this is the second thing in a week. Must buy a lotto ticket! I really do think Mabel suits her, there's just something very suitable about that name. Love your new kitten too. Even called Ralph!
ReplyDeleteGreat name! I'm going to have to consider naming my collection, too - it's a great idea! And I love the fact that the cat's name is Ralph - it looks like a Ralph!
ReplyDeleteNaming pets never made sense in our family either.
ReplyDeleteMabel sure suits the old girl. Hope she lives up to her name and works hard in the sewing room.
Enjoy
What a pretty machine that is! Mabel is such a sweet name.
ReplyDeleteOh, check out the giveaway in my blog too!
Hiya Clare,
ReplyDeleteYep definitely a Mabel... what a fabulous find and name to suit!!
*snicker* A male cat named Flower...well why not? ..and Ralph is adorable... reminds me so much of my Kato who used to be a scrawny little runaway kitten once too.
Congrats to the lucky winners!
Mabel sounds perfect for an old girl. I had an Aunty Mabel... most probably everyone did.
ReplyDeleteHugs ~ Kerryanne
Oh Clare, love it!! I had an Aunty Mabel who lived to 110!! Mabel is also one of my girls' middle names, as we had so many in our families. Gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteMay your Mabel live on like ours have . . . love Posie
p.u.r.r.f.e.c.t!
ReplyDeleteGood choice, its a lovely name.
ReplyDeleteGreat choice! On the subject of names we have two hairy manly cob horses who are named Bubbles and Topaz!!! I have to say that they came with those names and its supposed to be unlucky to change them! We call them Bubs and Tops, so not quite so bad!

ooh, I called my car Mabel. It suits the tiny little (and old) Ford Fiesta perfectly :)
ReplyDeleteYour "Mabel" is a beauty! And your "Ralph" is pretty cute, too!
ReplyDeleteMabel is a great name - I wanted to call our cat Mabel, but I was outvoted. :( x
ReplyDeleteI think Mabel is a lovely choice, but I am biased, it was my Grandmother's name. Did you work out how old she is?
ReplyDeleteHi Clare!I love Mabel....oh and I just love Ralph as well. Look at those eyes. Kind regards, Anita.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you found a name. Little Ralph is adorable, so glad your son gave her a new home.
ReplyDeleteExcellent name, Mabel is just perfect!
ReplyDeleteShe's a beauty! xxx
ReplyDeleteLol, love the names! 2 horses I bred are called Yarrawa and Yuluwirree (pronounced Ooloowirree) as the indigenous names flowed and seemed to have more meaning to them than the english counterparts of storm and rainbow :).
ReplyDeletePerfect name for a beautiful machine. We are not so good with names either. We have two chickens one is called Chocolate and the other Lollipop and poor Flash died. Elizabeth X
ReplyDeleteMabel is a great name :)
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of names that kinda don't go, I had a fish many years ago that I named Horse. lol!
Sweet wee baby girl - I don't mean the sewing machine but the other wee black girl.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I think you picked the perfect name! I love Mabel, it's much better than my offering of Anne Shirley! ... and little Ralph is soooo cute. I'm glad she'll have a good home, poor baby. I found an all black kitty about a year and a half ago. He was blind in one eye and starving. Now he's the happiest plump little fellow, and we just love him to pieces! Good luck with your new baby! xoxo Paulette
ReplyDeleteWould you believe I found Mabel's sister today! Piccies on my blog :-)
ReplyDeleteMabel is just the perfect name for your new friend...as to "Ralph" poor little thing however she has just found herself a good home.
ReplyDeleteI think he looks like a Ralph.
ReplyDeleteMabel is a lovely name and she is a stunner.
ReplyDeleteLove the cat (and Mabel), looks just like our Black Dog,,
ReplyDeleteMabel is a real gem!
