I've done a lot of admiring of circle in square blankets .
I really , really want one .
Not one person has offered to give me theirs
so I had to start my own .
I used 4 ply cotton , what was I thinking !
This was going to take forever as each square
ended up about 3 inches .
The squares have been turned into a cushion cover
and I think I'll use thicker wool for a blanket.
Or just keep waiting until someone sends me theirs .
So pretty. Charmaine

ReplyDeleteIt looks so pretty, Clare. Lovely colours.:)
ReplyDeleteYour cushion looks great. Bright and fresh.
ReplyDeleteIf you find someone that will give you a blanket, ask if they have two so I can score one as well.
Very pretty! You know I don't crochet right and I can send you my address, hint, hint?!
ReplyDeleteLooks fab Clare....if I had one that I didnt want I would send it to you but I dont...one day I might lol...
ReplyDeleteLove your cushion!!! I keep seeing similar cushions & rugs & they just look fantastic with the white, it makes all the colours pop!!! cheers, Jan
ReplyDeleteI just love this, looks so modern but has a wonderful creative connection to my grandmother's days.
ReplyDeleteThat is beautiful. I love the crisp white contrasts. I guess you understand now why no one would give you there's. Too much precious work in each square and connection. Cherrie
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty cushion Clare, love it!! Oh, and if you should get inundated with offers of 'circle in square blankets' ... I'll be happy to help you out and take one or two off your hands :o). I'm good like that lol.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Joy :o)
i generally use wool for blankets, scarves and lap rugs (a fancy name for blankets i didnt have the determination to make any bigger) and typically make them from squares i then stitch together like yours, i lose patience going round and round and round several hundred times. besides smaller pieces mean its portable and i can play with different patterns and colours.
ReplyDeletei only ever use cotton for tea towels, pillow cases and trivets/placemats/coasters
Fantastic use of those teeny tiny squares.
ReplyDeleteYour cushion looks gorgeous.
Yep beautiful. I understand with crochet it's like a quilt - it's OK if a blanket takes years to finish.
ReplyDeleteOr you could just make lots of cushions. Or granny square scarves. Ive seen those and they're cute as.
So beautiful. That would make a nice bedspread.
ReplyDeleteThat looks great!
ReplyDeleteSorry, you won't be getting any crocheted beautifuls from me - I'm a crochet flop!
Gosh that's gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteI'd give you mine, but nobody's given me theirs yet either... ;)
Worth the effort Clare. It looks great!!
ReplyDeleteHugs ~ Kerryanne

ReplyDeleteYour cushion cover turned out great! Perfect way to use those 3 inch squares. Probably wise to turn to heavier wool for your throw tho'. Looking forward to seeing that when it's done.

ReplyDeleteoh Clare your cushion is DIVINE I LOVE LOVE LOVE it I hope in my next life I can actually crochet
ReplyDeleteThe cushion i lovely, I love the back drop of snapdragons.Doesn't look like the rain has worried them!!!
ReplyDeleteAs the owner/maker of one Not Quite Finished circle-in-a-square granny blanket may I suggest that you make up the spare room? No one will gift something that caused so much grief/effort (especially if they didn't weave in as they went) without moving to your house WITH said blanket.
ReplyDeleteThat is one lovely cushion.
