Warning ! This post may disturb some quilters .

This is possibly a bit scary for some as I am not a quilter and I won't pretend to be one but I'm trying string piecing , yes me !
I can see this may become a bit of a problem as I've had so much fun making these and you can use teeny , tiny scraps too !
I know I have probably broken every quilting rule with these "blocks" but who cares ?
Don't worry real quilters, if this turns outs bigger than a placemat I'll call it a blanket , lol !

  4. Love your blocks Clare. When you put them together they look even more gorgeous. That's what quilting is about, using scraps. Check out Jan Mac's "Oz Comfort Quilts" and see how beautiful her QAYG look.

I've made many quilts and don't follow "the rules" either. At first I didn't know the rules, now I just prefer to do it my own way.

  31. Rules? What rules? I think what you've come up with is beautiful. Rules are meant to be broken, when it comes to sewing anyway!

    Happy New Year!

  35. "Real Quilters"? Whatever does that mean? Anyone who quilts with passion is real!!! (I HAVE to believe that because I am way stronger in the passion category than in talent)

  36. They are looking good - there are some pretty fabrics there. Keep us posted on the final result.

  37. That's what I love so much about quilting and stitching - There are no real rules and we can just make it up as we go along. Great way to use up those scraps - Looking forward to seeing what it becomes.

  38. Ignore those "real quilters" - they started somewhere less than perfect too you know (and some of us even continue less than perfect!). Your blocks look great!

  43. That does not scare me one bit....that is how you have fun. There are no rules to having fun. I don't think there are any real rules to quilting either....unless you are with quilters who like rules....I typically just leave the room then!! LOL

I'm so glad to see you are having fun and that is what it is all about.

  54. bahumbug - call it a quilt! I have not idea what string piecing is (another non-quilter) but those stringed pieces look very handsomely stringed and pieced to me.

  55. wow, I am going to do this to use up my massive stash of teeny tiny scraps, and to hell with it, I shall call it a quilt! I have been warned not to start another quilt until I finish off the others...but this is for a good cause, using up my scraps. What a fancy stripper!
