Coconut Ice

I love this soft chenille and thought I'd crochet

it in granny squares for a lovely soft blanket .

It was very cheap wool and dreadful

to work with and it kept breaking .

Admitedly I am not an expert crocheter

but the squares all ended up looking like

they had breasts .

So I took them apart and started on a scarf .

By now I'd gotten the hang of the cheap wool

and my scarf grew .

And then I liked that it was a bit bigger and

soft on my lap so I kept going .

Finally this is what I ended up with

and my daughter has claimed it .

She also said how nice her room looked

in the photo .

Don't worry I set her straight and let

her know all about cropping photos .

yesterday

You may have gathered yesterday I wasn't that

thrilled about going to work .

I'm glad I did because look who came to visit me !

This little roo is about 9 months old and the sweetest

thing you'd ever see !

The other Skippy (Geoff Huegel did

very well in the swimming

yesterday too .)

I also managed to get a little bit done with this .

All will be revealed soon

but not tomorrow.

Colourful Fridays

I thought I'd like to join Robyn in Colourful Fridays

but there is a small problem that I go out

to work on Fridays .

All the other players have put so much

effort into their colourful posts and they look great .

I know I just don't have the time or patience

so I have set myself a challenge .

I gave myself 5 minutes and set the buzzer on the stove .

Ran around like a crazy woman gathering up

the colour for the day and took a photo .

Uploaded it as quickly as possible .

Write post , let Robyn know I'm playing ,

add link and drink more coffee .

Just thought I'd tell you all this in case you happen

by my blog on a Friday and you see a lump of colour ,

you'll know it's Fast Colourful Friday here .

tuesday treasures

My treasure this week is this grubby old scrabble board .

My mum has moved into a nursing home and

things from her home have been shared around .

Of great interest was this board .

You probably can't see too well in this photo

but every little space around the board has

been written on .

It became an unspoken rule that the board

itself not be written on but around the outside

was fair game .

It has such silly stuff written like who was the

slowest player , who was the biggest whinger , biggest cheat

or just who was playing that day .

We spent many , many hours playing on this board

and drinking too much tea and laughing so much .

I have 5 sisters and 2 brothers and every one of us

had a great time on the weekend reading

the board and reminiscing .

I was lucky enough to score the treasured board

but I did promise to get it framed and

then we will all share it .

Clearly this board would mean nothing

to anyone else but to my family it is priceless !

At my house today we are admiring our gifts from the boy

who has just returned from the outback .

At my house today the washing line will be full of clothes

from the boy who has just returned from the outback .

My little family is again complete

because the boy is home from the outback .
